I went to JMU and graduated with an English degree, then moved to Atlanta to pursue a career in indolence. My parents decamped for Manhattan in 1992, depriving me of excuses for returning to Arlington. I moved to Charlottesville about ten years ago and took up, of all things, winemaking. I spent a few years with the grape, during which Bacchic idyll I met my lovely wife, Jenny McNee. We moved to Staunton in 2002 to work for the American Shakespeare Center--she as costumer, I as actor.
We have produced two children. Eliot is three and Martha Jane will turn one on Oct. 3. We can't come to the reunion because, as Tom Stoppard observed, actors are the opposite of people. I don't know exactly what he meant by that, but it is certainly true that my work hours line up exactly with normal people's leisure time. So while you folks are downing your powerful cocktails of nostalgia and envy, I'll be in King Lear, playing the Fool.
I'll miss you.
