Truly hard to believe that it has been 20 years, but looking forward to seeing everyone this fall and thanks to Javier Montes for putting together the website. I attended Hampden-Sydney College and received a degree in Political Science. I worked at a law firm for a few years in Washington, D.C. and then in 1995 took an opportunity with a start-up company in McLean called SportGrass Inc. This new hybrid athletic turf was going to revolutionize the athletic turf industry. The first field was the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. To make a long story short the product didn't quite live up to billing, but I did get to travel all across the United States and overseas. We were fortunate to install some NFL fields and the soccer field for AC Milan in Italy. I actually really enjoyed working for a small start up company though of course it had its ups and downs.
I was lucky to convince Alexis Smith to marry me in 1997 and we just had our 10 year anniversary. Alexis works for the US Marshals Service so she keeps me in line on the homefront! I left SportGrass in 2000 and took a recruiting position at HITT Contracting. Cabell Jr. was born in July 2003 and we are having a ball just trying to keep up!!! This past year I moved to HITT's Commercial Development arm so now learning the real estate/development side of the business. Anyways, I will stop rambling but let's spread the word about the reunion and get a great turnout! A few of us recently went to see New Potato Caboose at the State Theater in Falls Church and they were outstanding so I think we are in store for a good time.
